Question 12:

Find the length of each side of a square whose area is equal to the area of a rectangle of length 13.6 metres and breadth 3.4 metres.

Answer 12:

Area of the rectangle =(13.6 × 3.4) =46.24 sq m
Thus, area of the square is 46.24 sq m.

Length of each side of the square = 46.24 m

Using long division method:

46.24=6.8

Thus, the length of a side of the square is 6.8 metres.
