Write down as decimals.

(a) (i) 7 tenths

Sol :

(i) $\frac{7}{10}=0.7$


(ii) 8 hundredths

Sol :

(ii) $\frac{8}{100}=0.08$


(iii) 6 thousandths

Sol :

(iii) $\frac{6}{1000}=0.006$


(b)

(i) $\frac{6}{10}+\frac{8}{100}$

Sol :

$=\frac{60+8}{100}$

$=\frac{68}{100}$

=0.68


(ii) $\frac{3}{10}+\frac{5}{100}+\frac{8}{1000}$

$\frac{9}{10}+\frac{5}{100}+\frac{8}{1000}$

$=\frac{300+50+8}{1000}$

$=\frac{358}{1000}$

=0.358


(iii) $5+\frac{7}{10}$

Sol :

$=\frac{50+7}{10}=\frac{57}{10}$

=5.7


(iv) $20+7+\frac{8}{10}+\frac{5}{100}$

Sol :

$=\frac{2000+700+80+5}{100}=\frac{2785}{100}$

=27.85


(v) $800+5+\frac{3}{10}+\frac{5}{100}$

Sol :

$=\frac{80000+500+30+5}{100}$

$=\frac{80535}{100}$

=805.35


(vi) $2+\frac{5}{100}$

Sol :

$=\frac{200+5}{100}=\frac{205}{100}$

=2.05


(vii) $\frac{6}{10}+\frac{9}{1000}$

Sol :

$=\frac{600+9}{1000}=\frac{609}{1000}$

=0.609


(viii) $40+\frac{7}{100}+\frac{9}{10000}$

Sol :

$=\frac{400000+700+9}{10000}$

$=\frac{400709}{10000}$

=40.0709

$=3+\frac{5}{10}+\frac{9}{100}$

$=\frac{7}{1000}$


(c) 39.2307

$=3\times 10+9+\frac{2}{10}+\frac{3}{100}+\frac{7}{10000}$

$=30+9+\frac{2}{10}+\frac{3}{100}+\frac{7}{10000}$


(d) 8.075

$=8+\frac{7}{100}+\frac{5}{1000}$

=7×10=70

Here, the value of
